The Town of Prescott Valley was required by state law to update the General Plan based on new legislation known as growing smarter. This act required that cities and towns adopt an update general plan, which includes adding elements not previously required by state law.
The Prescott Valley General Plan
The Prescott Valley General Plan 2035 can best be described as the community's blueprint for future development. It represents the communities' vision for the future; it is a constitution comprised of goals and policies used by the Communities Planning Commission and Town Council to make land use and development-related decisions. The general plan and the goals, policies and diagrams within the plan have a long-term outlook, identifying the types of development patterns allowed and the spatial relationships of land uses. Prescott Valley voters passed the General Plan 2035 update in the November 8, 2022 election with 58.79 percent of voters in favor.
The Guiding Principles, Goals, and Policies set forth in Chapter 7 of the General Plan 2035 serve as a framework for continued growth and revitalization of housing options throughout The Town of Prescott Valley. The Guiding Principles, Goals, and Policies are:
Promote development of of sustainable, attractive, and diverse house options and neighborhoods.
Promote compatibility between adjacent residential uses and with adjacent non-residential uses.
Promote residential infill development that takes advantage of existing infrastructure.
Support development that offers alternatives to traditional neighborhood design.
