False Alarm Reduction Program

The False Alarm Reduction Program was initiated to substantially reduce the number of false alarms that the Prescott Valley Police Department responds to, thereby freeing up police resources to respond to emergencies.

False Alarms

False alarms will be tracked and the 3rd false alarm within a 365 day period will result in an assessment of $250.  Each subsequent occurrence will also be billed at $250 per event. Alarm registration/ annual renewal has been eliminated and is no longer required.

Major causes of false alarms:

  • Children, neighbors and visitors
  • Cleaning crews/Repairmen/Pet sitters
  • Equipment malfunction
  • Pets or other wildlife
  • Unlocked or loose doors/windows
  • User error

For questions regarding false alarm notifications of assessments, please contact the Finance Department at 928-759-3132. Officer related questions on the dispatch of the false alarm response should be directed to Sergeant Joe McCamish, PVPD, at 928-772-5154.
