The Prescott Valley Town Council is comprised of the Mayor and 6 Council Members. The Mayor and Council members are elected from the town at large to 4-year terms. To avoid having all the Council seats expire in the same year, terms are staggered with the Mayor and 2 Council Members elected at one election and the other 4 Council Members are elected 2 years later.
Prescott Valley Mayor and Council elections are held in August of even-numbered years. If no candidate for an office receives a majority of the votes cast for that office in the August election, a runoff election is held in November. Candidates who move the run-off election are determined by the majority vote formula found in A.R.S 9-821.01(F)-taking the number of unfilled council seats multiplied by twice the number of candidates per seat.
The next regularly scheduled election in Prescott Valley will be the Primary Election held on August 6, 2024 and General (runoff) Election in November 5, 2024 in accordance with ARS 16-204(e).
The Mayor and Council members shall assume the duties of the office at the regularly scheduled Council meeting next following the date of the canvass of the vote of the General Election at which, or effective as of the date of which, the Mayor and Council members were elected.
The Mayor and Council members shall be elected from Town at-large, pursuant to the election procedure specified in ordinances which are adopted according to law.

Mayor or Council Member
At least 5% and not more than 10% of the highest vote for an office in the last preceding election for an elected official of the town. Candidates need to file no less than 591 and no more than 1,181 signature petitions for the August 6, 2024 Election.
A qualified elector is deemed to be any person whose name appears on the register for the last preceding general election, or who has registered subsequently, and is otherwise qualified.
The Council, or under certain circumstances the Clerk, may also call special elections, when needed, in accordance with State Law. This may include elections for initiatives, referendums or recalls. All associated documentation for an Initiative, referendum or recall is available upon request from the Town Clerk's Office. Petitions must be filed in accordance with the Arizona Constitution and Arizona Revised Statutes. Keep in mind that the following filing deadlines apply:
Initiative - Petitions cannot be circulated for signatures more than twenty-four (24) months preceding the election at which the measure is proposed to be voted on and petitions must be filed no later than four (4) months preceding the lection at which the measure is proposed to be voted on.
Referendum - Petitions must be filed within thirty (30) days after passage of the ordinance, resolution or franchise.
Recall - Petitions must be filed no later than one hundred and twenty (120) days from the date of submission of the application for recall petition.
